Chef David Ansill Returns to Philadelphia as Executive Chef of Bar Ferdinand

The Bar Ferdinand that you know and love is happy to welcome a new Executive Chef to their kitchen in Northern Liberties. David Ansill has returned from a six month trip in Jamaica to his Philadelphia roots and is honored to take the position. The owner of Bar Ferdinand, Owen Kamihira, and Ansill have a 30 year history that started when they worked together in the 80s at South Street’s Copabanana.

David Ansill is known by many for his use of simple ingredients that bring out the best in dishes. He is influenced largely by a motorcycle trip through Spain and other travels.

Right off the bat, Ansill has gone to work on a new menu that will debut in late September. For those who can’t wait that long, you can stop in beginning tomorrow, August 2nd, and continuing every Thursday of the month when Ansill will explore Spanish inspired dishes using seasonal ingredients with his new multi-course Chef’s Tasting Menu. The cost is $40 per person (plus tax and gratuity) and is offered from 5 – 11 p.m.

In addition, Ansill is creating a series of specials each night that live up to Bar Ferdinand’s seasonal ingredient-driven reputation and will take the cuisine to a whole new level!
