Many of Glasgow’s restaurateurs are busy little bees at the moment.

We’ve already told you about Pizza Punks (this weekend’s opening has been delayed, it seems) and both Paesano Pizzaand VDeep planning new openings in the West End.

Chaakoo Bombay Café

It now appears that Pizza Punks will have a St Vincent Street neighbour in the form of Chaakoo Bombay Café.

Now, we may be putting two and two together to make five here but… My.creative is the branding company which helped the people behind Pinto, Tutto Matto and Topolabamba develop the look and feel of those restaurants.

My.creative is also the firm which seems to be developing the brand for Chaakoo Bombay Café. A coincidence?

Could be. Watch this space. More details as we get them.

Tuk Tuk rides to Glasgow

While on the subject of restaurants with their own spin on Indian food, it looks as though Edinburgh’s Tuk Tuk will open on Sauchiehall Street in the near future.

According to one of Yelp Glasgow’s many sharp-eyed contributors, it will be next to the Pizza Express.

Indian street food? In Glasgow? That will never work.

Will it?

Oh, hang on…

A beans to an end

We must also thank Yelp Glasgow for alerting us to the fact that a new vegan restaurant is opening in Shawlands on Kilmarnock Road.

It will be called… wait for it… Soy Division.

Having previously plied their trade around the local farmers’ markets, they have moved into the premises previously occupied by Maria’s Good Food.

Hola Ibérica

We’re going to go on about this in greater detail nearer its opening but we will make brief mention of Ibérica.

Officially opening on St Vincent Street in the next fortnight or so, it promises genuine Spanish tapas with an emphasis on dishes from Asturias in the North West of the country.

This is Ibérica’s eighth restaurant in the UK, but the first in Scotland for the Spanish company. An Edinburgh branch is planned for 2017.
